AECOM is seeking an experienced Civil/Environmental Engineer to join our Remediation team in the Amherst, New York office. The successful candidate will work with a diverse team of technical leaders across a broad range of practice areas delivering professional consulting services to our key clients.
Job Description
The successful candidate will provide technical skills on projects within the department and will develop strong relationships with the team and clients to enable pursuit of new opportunities. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate effectively with members of the project team, clients, site personnel and office management, and work both independently and as part of a project team.
The successful candidate will be committed to the team's success and growth; will rigorously apply safety policies and procedures; will manage the technical, cost and schedule elements of project delivery for their assignments; and will effectively manage the quality of their project calculations and deliverables within the bounds of the AECOM Quality Management System.
The job responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:
- Work collaboratively with the Remediation team Project Managers and technical staff, as well as professionals within other AECOM business lines.
- Act as the Engineer of Record sealing and signing reports, drawing sets, technical specifications, and related regulator application forms. New York City Department of Buildings and Fire Department application experience is preferred.
- Act as Senior Project Engineer working on projects with various levels of complexity, responsible for technical delivery, design, client liaison, reporting requirements, and coordination with project team members.
- Prepare remediation designs for various applications including excavation, in-situ injections for bioremediation and chemical oxidation, soil vapor extraction systems, air sparge systems, sub-slab depressurization systems and other technologies. Petroleum-contaminated site, inactive hazardous waste site, and/or NYSDEC experience is preferred.
- Prepare written reports, work plans, and technical memorandums; analyze data and develop supported conclusions.
- Prepare general civil and process design calculations and related detailed documents (reports, technical specifications, drawings, and cost estimates). Petroleum/chemical bulk storage, air, manufactured gas plant, renewable energy, and/or landfill experience is preferred.
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase project efficiencies, improve technical methodologies and add value to client service offerings.
- Mentor junior and mid-level staff. Certify staff experience for Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BA/BS 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- New York State Professional Engineering license.
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- 10 years of relevant experience at an engineering consulting firm or a governmental agency.
- Experience as a technical lead on general civil and/or remediation projects.
- Ability to proactively lead technical efforts and project team staff.
- Experience as a Project or Team Manager.
- Experience as Senior Project Engineer on large scale projects.
- Experience with New York City Department of Buildings and Fire Department applications.
- Experience with storage tank, manufactured gas plant, renewable energy, landfill, and/or air projects.
- Experience with petroleum-contaminated site, inactive hazardous waste site and/or NYSDEC remediation projects.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPPER training certification.

Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (NY locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000.
