Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a motivated and skilled ecologist for an Ecologist I position in the Conshohocken, PA office for a full-time role. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary, collaborative environment in both in-person and virtual (telework) settings. This position provides unlimited career growth potential while collaborating with a team comprised of a variety of technical staff and project managers in support of AECOM’s clients, including natural gas, electric utilities, renewable energy, and other focus areas.
This person will report to the Conshohocken, PA office and will be part of AECOM’s Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) team. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of ecology and environmental science to support AECOM's team of wetland scientists, ecologists, environmental scientists, and project managers and our clients on a variety of projects within the Environment/EPP business. The ideal candidate will need to thrive in a challenging environment, be flexible on schedule to meet project deadlines, meet billable hours goals and have attention to detail, and provide a broad range of technical writing skills, field data collection, and quality control (QA/QC) capabilities.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Stream, wetland, wildlife habitat assessments, delineations, and other surveys.
Writing wetland delineation and other ecological reports, function assessments, mitigation plans, and environmental compliance/permitting documents (Clean Water Act Permits, Section 401 and 404, and others).
Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and data analysis.
Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work and delivering quality reports on schedule and within budget.
Coordinating with various governmental agencies.
Preparing biological evaluations/assessments.
Assisting the Field Task Leader for wetland/waterbody and wildlife habitat assessments, including adherence to field safety requirements.
Assists in the preparation of permit applications and other supporting permitting documents.
Work will include field work and may include extended hours, night work, weekend work, and/or overnight travel.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Relevant internship experience or 1 years of professional experience in related field or industry.
Experience with wetland or ecological field data collection through GPS units, tablets GIS applications or other platforms.
Data review, and preparation of scientific documents including wetland reports, habitat assessment or species specific reports.
ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Portal and other ESRI mapping products, Survey equipment (GPS units, iPad/tablets, etc.) experience.
Exceptional technical report writing and communication skills.
Additional Information
The position requires fieldwork, and the candidate must be able to travel (including overnight).
Relocation is not available for this position.

Offered rate of compensation (Pennsylvania) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000.
