AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Ecologist to be based in our New York City or New Jersey office.
This position is expected to begin in April 2023.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting on wetland, stream, and wildlife habitat assessments, botanical surveys, and listed species surveys.
- Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assisting with the preparation of technical documents and permit applications.
- This position will predominantly involve task-based assignments.
- Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Environmental Studies, Biology, or related field.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Due to the nature of work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with California Planning Law, CEQA, NEPA, federal regulatory and compliance guidelines.
- Familiarity with issues related to environmental permitting, wetland ecology, watershed planning, conservation planning, and/or natural resources planning.
- Strong Written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to create and maintain tracking spreadsheets and documents.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, identifying what needs to be accomplished and regularly completing tasks.
- Ability to perform field work, sometimes in remote areas.
- Knowledge of Google Earth.
- Experience with digital data collection.
