Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Engineer for employment within our DCS - Environmental Remediation Practices group in the Newark DE office to support remediation design, construction, and operations and maintenance projects.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- Understanding of environmental and/or civil engineering principles and practices.
- Knowledge of environmental and/or civil engineering related topics such as remediation technologies, environmental water treatment systems, regulatory compliance, stormwater and sediment and erosion controls, earthworks, and civil infrastructure and utility systems.
- Ability to interpret construction specifications practices.
- Ability to read, interpret and adhere to construction drawings.
- Ability to interpret and adhere to quality assurance and quality control principles and practices.
- Ability to interpret and adhere to construction contract administration principles and practices.

Responsibilities include:
- Provide engineering, construction, and operations and maintenance support for private industrial and municipal remediation projects.
- Assist in developing, coordinating, and providing field oversight of pre-design investigations.
- Analyze data and prepare and review engineering related reports, plans, calculations, drawings, figures, and specifications using accepted engineering practices and procedures.
- Make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Prepare engineer's cost opinions.
- Implement hazardous waste, solid waste, stormwater, and site development codes and regulations and prepare permit applications.
- Work under supervision of a project manager or advanced-level team member.
- Demonstrate ability to build trusting working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Periodic travel and short-term field assignments will be required to visit job sites and perform investigations and construction quality monitoring.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field
- 2 years of relevant environmental remediation experience
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in environmental consulting
- FE or EIT designation
- 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training Supervisory
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Proficiency working with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and PDF editing software
- Working knowledge of the following programs: Microsoft Project, hydrology and hydraulic design software, and AutoCAD/Civil3D
- Excellent attention to Health and Safety
