Job Description

The role reports to the Global Category Manager. The location of the role is flexible, but the individual will live in Europe or North America close to a major transport hub.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- Lead strategic sourcing projects across multiple countries including analysis of demand and supply, development of the business strategy, management of the tender and overseeing implementation to achieve cost savings and improve quality and service levels
- Lead the commercial management of strategic contracts including the use of key performance indicators and escalation of performance issues where necessary.
- Implement supplier relationship management with strategic suppliers to deliver greater value
- Review end to end processes to improve management of supplier base, channel management, contract management, enable and improve purchase order compliance and adoption, workflow and approvals, payment processes and data and analytics
- Utilize procurement technology and data to improve efficiency and achieve high levels of compliance to the procurement policy and processes, for example, through the implementation of the no PO no pay policy and the use of catalogues
- Develop change and project management plans to support new ways of working
- Support the development of category plans
- Support the development and capability of the Procurement and Supply Chain team by demonstrating high standard of delivery and sharing best practice
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS plus 6 years of relevant strategic sourcing experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Experience in procuring services, ideally engineering or environmental services
- Strategic sourcing tools and techniques experience
- Tender and contract drafting experience
- Experience of exploiting procurement technology including procurement to pay systems, eCatalogues, eSourcing platforms and spend analytics tools
- Numerate with excellent analytical skills including advanced MS Excel skills
- Savings forecasting and recording experience
- Extensive negotiation skills
- Good tactical cost reduction expertise
- Good contractual and commercial expertise
- Good knowledge of supplier performance improvement techniques
- Good change and project management tools and techniques including leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Excellent verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in engineering, science, or business
- Nationally recognized professional certification (eg Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or Certified Purchasing Manager or equivalent professional procurement and supply chain qualification)
- Category management tools and techniques would be an advantage
- Bid winning support activity expertise would be an advantage
- Experience of working in joint ventures would be an advantage
- Experience in the construction, utilities, oil and gas, transport or professional services sector would be an advantage
- Knowledge of Coupa and PowerBI would be an advantage
