Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Traffic Control Engineer who will lead the design of roadway Transportation Management Plans (TMP) including Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) and Traffic Control Device (TCD) plans. - Focuses on Traffic Management for NCDOT and NC municipal projects.
- Develops Traffic Management plans, details, and written phasing using NCDOT and MUTCD standards and Safe System Principles
- Works with the client to coordinate plan reviews and responds to client comments
- Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and simple tests
- Proposes an approach to solving new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
- Identifies discrepancies in results
- Provides guidance to entry-level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule with little supervision
- Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete the primary design elements for Traffic Management works
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS Civil Engineering plus 6 years of traffic control engineering design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred:
- North Carolina PE License or ability to receive within 6 months
- 8 Years of NCDOT Traffic Management experience
- 2 Years of experience managing staff
- Experience with NCDOT work zone traffic control standards including construction safety standards
- Experience and knowledge designing work zone plans to include:
- project characteristics,
- travel and traffic characteristics,
- Corridor, network, and community issues
- design, procurement, and construction options
- Work zone design and safety
- TTC strategies
- Transportation operations strategies
- Public information strategies.

The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $82,000 to $145,000
