**Job Description**
**Senior Traffic Engineer**
**AECOM** is actively seeking a **Senior Traffic Engineer** to join our Mid-Atlantic Team in our **Newark, DE** , office. Our business focuses primarily on providing professional and technical services in engineering design, code consultation, and construction phase services for a wide variety of clients, both in the private and public sectors. We execute large, complex engineering projects and provide a comprehensive range of professional planning and design, systems engineering and technical assistance, program and construction management, and operations and maintenance services.
The AECOM Traffic/ITS Team in the Mid-Atlantic Group is seeking an enthusiastic and outgoing Traffic Engineer with experience in the areas of developing roadway, traffic, and ITS plans; performing traffic analyses and supervise entry-level staff.
The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge in traffic engineering design concepts and familiarity with traffic analysis software programs. Candidate will be responsible for preparing reports and studies and developing plans for various transportation facilities and traffic engineering projects. Any prior design experience with Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), and/or Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) as it relates to traffic engineering, signal design, ITS design, plan production, project estimates, and specifications is a plus. Effective oral and written communication skills are necessary.

As a Senior Traffic Engineer at AECOM, you will enhance your analytic and design skills working on a variety of projects. Under the guidance of our experienced engineers and project managers, you will perform engineering designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings. You will use computer software as a tool for solving complex engineering problems and work with diverse teams of engineers on projects across the region.
Responsibilities:
* Senior technical resource will serve as technical advisor for team
* Provide specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
* Develop study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
* Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
* Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
* Use expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
* Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
* Prepares technical specification sections.
* Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
**Qualifications**
**Minimum:**
Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Six years of Traffic/Transportation/ITS or related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD
Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
**Preferred:**
Experience with traffic design projects for DelDOT, PennDOT and/or PTC.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $110,000.00 - $140,000.00.
