Overview
The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks an audio and video (AV) studio production assistant to monitor, maintain, and support AV operations in-person at AEI's headquarters.
The ideal candidate should be a cross-functional team player capable of working in the events and communications departments. The technician would primarily work on live events, but also assist on in-person event AV support and Communications Department Video Team support on an ad hoc basis.
The applicant should possess an outstanding customer service attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills. This position requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and occasionally work outside of normal business hours. The candidate must be comfortable working in stressful situations and interacting with people of various cultures, technical capabilities, and event experience.
The applicant should have experience working on complex live in-person and hybrid events and as a junior editor-shooter. They must be timely, deadline-oriented, and polite. The most important qualities for this position are professionalism, self-motivation, great customer service skills, and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities
- Controlling AV systems for large public events featuring senior policy decision makers
- Assisting the AV team with livestreaming and videography of public events
- Coordinating microphones, audio recordings, video recordings, graphics, and lower thirds
- Encoding videos to YouTube
- Training relevant staff to use event space equipment
- Helping the Communications Department Video team with short-form videos during production and edit them postproduction (ad hoc basis)
Qualifications
- Candidates should have at least one to two years of experience working on AV systems for a conference center, livestreaming in a professional setting, or editing videos
- Previous experience should include:
- Livestreaming to YouTube or Vimeo
- Controlling simple lighting systems
- Using AV controls
- Managing event audio using wireless microphones
- Editing videos with the Adobe Creative Suite
- Using Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, and other remote platforms
- Experience using Crestron systems, Yamaha digital audio consoles, video displays, pan-tilt-zoom cameras, and electronic news-gathering camera systems is a plus
