Job Posting for Civil Designer at AEP Alliance Engineering and Planning
JOB DESCRIPTION: This individual will primarily be responsible for designing and producing civil plan sets for residential land development and/or commercial site development projects. This also includes implementing and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards.
DUTIES FOR QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL INCLUDE:
Supporting engineers for creating construction documents.
Preparation of Site Plans and House Fit / Location Plans.
Preparation of Erosion Control Plans.
Preparation of hydraulic and hydrologic calculations for stormwater management reports.
Performs assignments requiring the application of fundamental CADD drafting techniques in accordance with established standards and procedures.
Prepares engineering and construction drawings, using computer aided drafting and design techniques from Topographical survey data.
General engineering and design information.
Performs design tasks as directed by immediate supervisor.
Performs related engineering support tasks, which are not completely standardized or prescribed.
Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices and compliance with company standards and quality system procedures.
Create and document concepts, sketches, models, layouts, submittals, instructions, and complete production packages.
Identify and resolve incomplete or conflicting design inputs.
Perform design calculations, prepare material and equipment specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings.
May coordinate the design work for a project.
May act in a lead role over some drafters.
Technical problem-solving.
Some travel and field work to collect data and develop solutions.
Project planning.
Develop calculations, diagrams and models to support technical solutions.
Preparation of construction documents based upon field surveys, available resources and client requirements.
Permitting research, submittals, and follow-up.
Work closely with more senior staff members to learn and assist in design work.
Ability to design in AutoCAD Civil 3D design package.
High level of proficiency with cut/fill balance grading design in Civil 3D.
Ability to set up and manage AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation standards.
Ability to set up and manage printing/plotting settings.
Willingness to mentor and teach others.
Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player, self starter.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be familiar with MS Office Software
Ability to work within a team as well as an individual
Attention to detail, organized
Experienced with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with local development standards is a plus
High school diploma or GED certificate
Minimum 1 year of experience with Autodesk’s AutoCAD software program or an Associate’s degree or related technical certificate
Ability to effectively communicate thoughts and ideas
Possess exception attention to deal
Possess a strong work ethic
Valid Driver’s License is required.
Some local area travel may be required on occasions.
