Job Summary:
The Avionics Technician will maintain, repair, and inspect aircraft avionics systems to ensure safe operations within guidelines set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs regular maintenance and repairs on avionics and related equipment, for which he is qualified.
- Ensures proper working condition of avionics systems before flight.
- Develops and maintains records of avionics repairs, and any reports related to avionics parts or services.
- Report all faulty equipment to the Technician Supervisor
- Maintains an adequate tool kit.
- Consults maintenance manuals and specifications to identify correct operations and specifications for replacements or repairs.
- Fabricate and install wire harnesses as depicted on wiring diagrams.
- Testing pitot/static/transponder systems in accordance with FAR 91.411 and 91.413.
- Keeps work area clean, return tools to the proper location at end of every shift.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Sufficient training in the field of avionics
- Working knowledge of avionics systems and their operation such as traffic, EGPWS, audio integration, compass, autopilot.
- Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to manual instructions to resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Detail-oriented with mechanical inclination.
- Superior and careful workmanship.
- Ability to perform consistently under stressful conditions.
- Ability to learn new skills and methods of repairs.
- Basic computer skills
- Sufficient oral and verbal communication skills, as needed, to discuss equipment malfunctions and complete reports.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 year experience in aviation maintenance and/or avionics
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces.
- Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders.
- Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 70 pounds at a time.
- Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools or make adjustments and repairs.
- Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects.
- Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft.
