Job Description:

The Space Launch System (SLS) Assembly Operations Integrator at Stennis Space Center (SSC) is a leadership position which reports directly to the SSC Assembly Operations Senior Manager. This position is responsible for the effective execution and integration of SLS engine processing activities in the Building 9101 Engine Assembly Facility and the leadership of a multi-functional, multi-site team assigned to perform SLS assembly operations. This includes integration of program technical requirements into a plan and an  integrated master schedule that establishes resource needs and supports effective team execution.

This position works within the Site Operations function and in concert with site Test Operations, Assembly Operations, Integrated Master Scheduling, SSC SLS Program Integration, and support functions to simultaneously achieve organizational goals and program objectives. Additional responsibilities include team leadership and direct assembly operations support, ensuring processes and best practices are employed to achieve the required results, implementing system and process efficiencies, on-time assembly operations execution, and facility system availability and readiness that support Customer engine processing schedules.

 

Essential Functions:

The SLS Assembly Operations Integrator acts as the project lead for SLS engine assembly including:

  • Responsibility for technical requirements coordination
  • Estimating/proposal inputs
  • Planning and scheduling operations execution support
  • Earned Value input and
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identification and proactive management of risks and opportunities
  • Resolution of issues
  • Schedule performance

 

Critical to the success of this role is active communication with both the SLS Program and Operations Management.

 

Additional areas of expertise desired:

  • Demonstrated expertise in assembly and hardware processing operations including project integration and management this includes application of the technical and operational aspects of rocket engine systems or similar product lines
  • Knowledge and experience in hardware assembly and processing requirements including drawing and specification review and approvals, hardware handling, installation, inspection, leak and functional testing and customer delivery
  • Understanding of the following supporting operations and systems are preferred; engine/hardware design, electronic work instruction systems (DELMIA), non-conformance processing, ground support equipment & tooling, and warehousing & kitting

 

Qualifications:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 6 years (level 3) or 9 years (level 4) of directly related aerospace/industry experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
