Description:
Must Haves: Measuring Tools (Calipers, Microscopes, Gauges, micrometers) Computer Skills (Excel, Access, Proprietary System) Read Machine Prints (Blue Prints), Precision Inspections. Must be able to carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions.
- Able to discern tolerance ranges by using drawing block tolerances as well as callouts. Comfortable with dimensions primarily in decimal ranges. Able to calculate percentages, area, circumference and volume. Able to use basic algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Able to read ruler measurement scale, as well as optical comparator scaling, toolmaker’s microscope indexes and reticle scale. Must be able to measure both in metric and empirical values.
- Familiar with computers and basic Microsoft Applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Perform various tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor.
- Maintain quality and quantity with strong sense of accountability and standards.
- Complete all relevant documentation.
- Clean & maintain equipment & work area.
- Perform visual inspection of final product using a microscope to ensure that parts are free of defects as prescribed in procedures, work instructions and methods.
- Verify previous operations have been completed; rectify before performing inspection.
- Complete required read and record data sheets, first article inspections or other documented inspections, as required.
- Alert Supervisor if product reflects abnormal defects or significant quality issues.
- Perform weld inspections using visual inspection procedures and measurement tools. Successfully pass inspection testing for qualification.
- Perform mechanical inspection as directed by procedures, work instructions and methods using hand tools, reticles and gauge pins.
- Verify that measuring equipment is calibrated properly and alert Supervisor or Manager if equipment validity is in question.
- Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, specifications, procedures and inspection sheets as required to complete inspections.
- Maintain traceability of final product at all times by verifying previous operations and other supporting documents such as lab results, MIR cards and C of Cs.
- Working knowledge of basic GD&T symbols and measurement methods.
- Ability to work under a microscope and use reticle to perform measurements.
- Identify test status, non-conforming material and accepted material by using department procedures and work instructions.
- Complete paperwork such as data sheets, lab requests and NCMRs, which may be electronic or hard copy.
- Perform documented rework processes as prescribed by work instructions, methods or other approved documentation.
