Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting the dentist during patient procedures and ensuring the smooth operation of the dental office. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including preparing and sterilizing instruments, passing instruments to the dentist, and suctioning saliva or debris from the patient's mouth
- Take and develop dental x-rays
- Prepare materials for impressions and restorations
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records using Dentrix or similar dental software
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office calendar
- Perform dental receptionist duties, including answering phone calls, greeting patients, and handling insurance claims
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Follow proper infection control protocols and maintain aseptic technique in accordance with OSHA guidelines
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Valid Dental Assistant certification or license a plus
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or similar role preferred
- Proficient in medical documentation, including medical coding and maintaining accurate medical records
- Familiarity with Dentrix, Curve or other dental software systems preferred
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and providing exceptional patient care
