Requirements for this position include a 2-year diploma/degree in computer aided drafting or a
combination of education and experience of 2 years. The candidate should have a working knowledge
and skill in AutoCad and Solidworks drafting systems and design.
General responsibilities will include:
Provide Engineering & design support to customers, customer service, outside sales staff, quotation
dept. and manufacturing dep. utilizing Solidworks, Autocad and other design related software. Answer technical questions pertaining to standard tool selection, custom tool design, tool performance, speeds and feeds, etc. Provide customer support on problem tools and applications by email, phone calls and conference calls.
Specific responsibilities will include:
1. Designing cutting tools from conceptual quotation
2. Reverse engineer cutting tools from customers' existing tools, prints, and photos
3. Utilize vendor websites and catalogs for insert and component selection
4. Assign tool numbers to drawings
5. Revise and update legacy drawings in Autocad and Solidworks as needed
6. Develop conceptual tool drawings as required for outside sales and quotation dept.
7. Design mylar graphs for Wasino optical form grinders
8. Log engineering order details in nav, dates for engineering, sent for approval, approval received for
engineering timeline
9. Print and fold drawings for shop office
10. Develop fixture designs for manufacturing floor
11. Provide quality standards for custom tool manufacturing
12. Confer with manufacturing programmers and operators relating to drawing and manufacturing
questions.
