Mechanical Engineer - Racing & High Performance

AFCO Performance Group is currently seeking an industry engineering professional that has a passion for manufacturing, design, and product lifecycle management in high performance and racing vehicle markets. For those that love challenges, you will have the opportunity to make a major impact with quantifiable business results in both product design and manufacturing process arenas.  Projects will require working with engineering and quality staff, operations personnel, and internal/external customers to identify critical project requirements and provide optimum solutions.  The position will also require creative solutions involving hands-on fabrication and validation in both manufacturing processes and product design.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Lead projects in new product engineering, manufacturing operations, and product sourcing by coordinating with both internal and external resources to meet objectives
• Utilize expertise in mechanical design, drafting standards, and manufacturing methods in creating robust and efficient designs
• Function as project manager and maintain ownership for new engineering projects and manage release dates
• Validate new product designs using industry acceptable processes and concepts; including theoretical and real-world methods
• Work with internal and external customers to define critical project requirements, create and present structured designs that meet customer requirements, with a solid understanding of financial impact to the company
• Support product lines through a “cradle-to-grave” life-cycle structure, including management of BOMs and related manufacturing information within a company-wide MRP system
• Apply structured problem-solving analysis techniques utilizing engineering principles and practices to provide solutions to manufacturing and quality processes that support new product designs in a manufacturing environment

• Create new engineering and manufacturing processes that improve company efficiency, quality, and/or culture.
• Perform all functions in full compliance with corporate policies and procedures and all other applicable environmental, health, safety and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with strong knowledge of design and mechanics of materials
• Industry experience with manufacturing processes and product design in a production environment is a plus
• Effective ability in mechanical design using 3D CAD systems; PTC Creo preferred
• Mechatronics (mechanical, electrical, and computer programming) experience a plus
• Proven ability to define and validate design parameters
• Possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, motivational, leadership, problem-solving and communication skills
• Experience with quoting/estimating, sourcing, and business case justification
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles, continuous improvement, and Six Sigma concepts
• Fabrication skills and a general “hands-on” approach to new product development is essential
• Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet established timelines in a fast-paced environment
• Be motivated and driven to seek-out and define tasks that make significant impacts to the growth of the company
