What are the responsibilities and job description for the EDI Data Coordinator position at AFS Logistics?
Purpose/Job Function:
EDI/Data Coordinators work with a company’s Electronic Data Interchange program, maintaining smooth, timely data exchange using EDI systems and related tools to exchange transactions. This includes handling inbound/outbound electronic documents, conducting auditing, handling relevant transactions, networking with partners, and making changes or maintenance as required. EDI coordinators work extensively with information technology staff and other company employees to ensure the EDI program is working as intended.
Daily activities performed by EDI coordinators include serving as the initial contact for troubleshooting inquiries, monitoring document transmissions, and identifying opportunities to improve relevant processes. They perform audits to ensure quality standards are being met on a regular basis. In addition, this role is responsible to uphold our core values: Ethics, Engagement, and Excellence.
Essential Functions:
- Work with trading partners regarding updates, missing data, or other operational issues.
- Coordinate and test EDI implementations with new EDI partners.
- Analyze current implementations and make recommendations for improvements.
- Process and monitor all inbound and outbound documents.
- Coordinate with trading partners to maintain effective EDI relationships and provide support to internal departments.
- Review weekly loads for missing or faulted files.
- Pull and load files for non-automated processes.
- Maintain FBO, UPS e-Bill, and other account settings.
- Pull and review EDI and other files for loading failures and error conditions.
Qualification/Requirements:
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to deliver assignments on time.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Must have great reading and comprehension skills.
- Ability to handle a variety of people; internal and external.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Intermediate math skills.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Ability to communicate complex and or technical processes effectively in both written and oral form.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technology-oriented Associates (two-year) degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of EDI document formats and details is important to perform daily operations.
- EDI coordinators must have excellent communication skills and be able to discuss technical issues with non-technical staff.
- Transportation and logistics industry experience preferred.
