Position Description
Agricultural Inspectors perform sampling and inspection of agricultural products at shipping point inspection facilities, and participate in pest control and noxious weed eradication; check and grade condition of fruits and vegetables, and assist plant pathologists and entomologists in the preparation of samples for analysis.
This is a full-time position located at the department of Agriculture, Division of Plant Health and Compliance, plant pathology and seed program section, and will be responsible for performing field inspections and disease surveys under the supervision of the plant pathologist. The position is in Sparks, NV. Duties include coordinating and performing annual allium crop disease inspections, collecting plant and soil samples from fields, processing samples in the labs, and assisting seed analysis and certification program. The incumbent is also assigned to perform greenhouse trials, maintain plant growth in the greenhouse, and assist plant diagnosticians in plant pathology lab.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in agricultural sciences or related sciences performing agricultural duties; OR one year of experience as an Agricultural Inspector II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
