Nevada County is seeking an Agricultural Technician for the Environmental Health department. This is a temporary position that will assist the Vector Control surveillance team in monitoring and responding to vector-borne diseases.

• Assist professional staff in the collection and analysis of samples.
• Coordinate and operate the mosquito fish giveaway events.
• Provide basic information on the Vector Control program to inquiries from the public.
• Prepares reports of inspections, tests, investigations and other activities.

An Agricultural Technician (Temporary) is an integral part of Nevada County whose mission is to apply the knowledge of biology to seek practical problems related to the environmental quality, human and animal wellness, and management of pests in production agricultural systems and in residential areas! This position is crafted for individuals who have graduated from high school with coursework in agricultural or biological sciences at the high school or college level. If you have skills in accurate and detail record keeping of daily inspections, that's a plus!

Sick Leave:

Temporary County employees shall accrue at the rate of one (1) hour of sick leave for each thirty (30) hours worked. Temporary County employees can accrue a maximum of 80 hours of sick leave which may be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.

Medical Benefits:

Temporary employees whose assignments average 30 hours per week or more are eligible to enroll in County-sponsored medical benefits.

Under supervision and field guidance, the temporary Ag Technician will handle a variety of duties which may include pesticide investigation and environmental monitoring, integrated pest and mosquito control, pest prevention and plant regulation, and may enforce provisions of the Business and Professions Code relating to weight verification, measurement verification, and transaction and product verification; and to perform related work as required.
