The Biologicals Communications Manager is responsible for strategic communications, internal and external, globally, that help support the business and help to strengthen the reputation of both Corteva and its Crop Protection business. Responsibilities will include internal communications, including those relating to the integration of two newly acquired biologicals businesses, external communications, including working with the media, digital and social media teams, and promoting the Biologicals business brand. The impact of such strategic communications should be aligned with policy and business growth objectives and positioning to help Corteva reach its goal of becoming the third largest Crop Protection solutions provider globally. For example, efforts should demonstrate and promote the grower/customer and societal/environmental benefits of biologicals products and solutions, as well as the competitive, productivity or strategic positioning of differentiated offerings in the Corteva portfolio. This role will work closely with Corteva Government Affairs and Industry Affairs colleagues to support policy outcomes that support desired business outcomes. A thorough knowledge of public affairs as a discipline would therefore be helpful. This role will work cross-functionally to provide communications support for advocacy and reputational defense of the business. It will also support key external strategic or high-profile presentations or media engagements as assigned. This role reports to the CP Business Unit Communications Director and will serve on various internal project teams as assigned. The person selected for this role will have a cross-functional mindset and collaborative behaviors to ensure strong alignment and coordination in responsibility areas. What You'll Do:
  • Develop and execute a communications strategy that supports business objectives, including reputation-building and regulatory and policy priorities but also product launches, key collaborations, M&A, divestitures, capital projects, and other projects as assigned.
  • Develop communications that show the grower/customer and societal/environmental benefits of biological solutions, as well as the business' competitive, productivity or strategic positioning. Provide global narrative and strategic messaging guidance to regional teams.
  • Serve at Communications leader for Biologicals integration communications related to the acquisitions of Stoller and Symborg. Direct communications consultants and serve on Integration Leadership Teams to guide and ensure aligned communications and best practices.
  • Support consistent and thoughtful communications to ensure alignment of messages and communications strategy across Public Affairs, Product Portfolios, Marketing, Brand and other functional teams.
  • Work independently and cross-functionally to provide communications support for advocacy and reputational defense of the business. Serve on assigned issue teams and coordinate across various functional leaders and subject matter experts. Identify emerging external issues and communications opportunities, respond to requests for information.
  • Work with the global media team to develop and guide media strategy related to the Biologicals business. Ensure business alignment and support, correct messaging, and information in media responses.
  • Meet project deadlines and maintain budgets. Proactively identify, elevate, and resolve barriers to success.
  • Maintain confidential business information and demonstrate disciplined and strategic decision making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders regarding communications strategy and implementation.
  • Represent Corteva Agriscience with external organizations and committees/task forces as assigned.
  • Lead and support ad-hoc communication projects, events, and tasks.
Qualifications

What Skills You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree with 10 years of communications experience, including role(s) in employee or corporate communications, public affairs, issues/crisis or media relations.
  • Fluency in English required. Fluency in 1-2 other languages spoken in key Corteva markets preferred.
  • Agency or in-house communications experience required. A combination of agency and in-house experience preferred.
  • Experience within agriculture, manufacturing, or technology industry preferred
  • Experience with strategic communications planning.
  • Extensive experience managing employee communications tactics (including both planning and implementing programs) and media and digital communication tactics (including writing, handling media inquiries and basic social media skills).
  • Public affairs experience, including cross functional planning with Government and Industry affairs leaders.
  • Experience with issues management communications.
  • Experience with executive communications support.
  • Ability to manage a variety of stakeholders and distill multiple sources of information.
  • Ability to direct and manage consultants or agencies in support of project work.
  • Ability to work independently and execute strategy on time, on budget and to high standards.
  • A global mindset - an appreciation of how needs differ in different regions - for both the business, policymakers and our customers.
  • Ability and comfort with multitasking and navigating competing priorities.
  • Ability to develop and implement communication strategies that support business goals.
  • Ability to ascertain and recommend concise communication messages from a wide array of material and inputs.
  • Capability to communicate business information and key messages to key audiences in an effective manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong collaboration, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic technical knowledge of agriculture, biotechnology, biologicals, crop protection chemistry and the seed industry with high business acumen.
  • Ability to work confidentially and under tight deadlines and control responses in public forums and interviews.
  • Self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset. Ability to identify, elevate and resolve barriers to success.
  • Ability to be proactive, collaborative and to keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships inside and outside Corteva Agriscience and to work with cross functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, including project management ability and prioritization skills. Ability to meet deadlines and maintain budgets.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to travel, when necessary, including occasional international travel.
  • This is a global role that may be based at our Indianapolis, Indiana, Headquarters or it may be based at one of our other business locations depending on the candidate and other considerations.
