Position Responsibilities
Position Summary
University of Idaho Extension Central District is seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate Faculty for a fiscal year Extension Educator, Livestock Production position located in the Lincoln County Extension Office in Shoshone, Idaho. The position will provide overall leadership, applied research and organization for educational programs in livestock production with a major emphasis in beef cattle production, forage crop production, and 4-H youth development in Lincoln County. This position will also provide animal science educational programming in the other counties of Extension's Central District as needed. In addition, the educator will provide administrative leadership serving as the Lincoln County administrative chair. Programs will be delivered through classes, workshops, demonstrations, research projects, volunteer training sessions, and other methods as appropriate. The educator will promote University of Idaho Extension programs with clientele, elected officials, and other community partners through newsletters, websites, press releases, radio/television, and social media. The educator will assist with 4-H activities during the Lincoln County Fair. Rank and tenure are negotiable based on how the candidate meets the criteria outlined in department and college bylaws. A stipend will be provided for serving as County Chair.

Qualifications
Minimum Education/Degree Required
Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications
- An earned master's degree from an accredited institution within one year is required from an agricultural field of study that may include, Animal Science, Rangeland Science, Agriculture, Farm Management, Crop Science, Agriculture Education, Extension Education, or a closely related discipline. The required master's degree must be completed within one year of the hire date or the position is null and void.
- Experience with organizing and working collaboratively with individuals and organizations from a range of public and private perspectives, as well as diverse backgrounds.
- Experience adapting research materials for effective written and oral presentations.
- Experience with people related skills such as teaching, problem solving, communication, conflict management, relationship building, leadership development, and volunteer/partner recruitment.
- Experience working in a team and providing effective leadership for Extension programming.
- Experience with computer literacy and competence in using technology for program delivery, record keeping, reporting, and team-based communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Extension and/or a Land Grant University.
- At least three years of experience in Extension education or demonstrated ability and skill in animal science, range science, agriculture, crop science, or farm management (relevant experience acquired within last five years preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to design innovative and effective educational programs in response to local needs; implement and market programs and evaluate their effectiveness.
- Experience in grant application and administration.
- Experience working in youth development programs.
- Ability to communicate (orally and written) in Spanish.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
