Ledyard High School is seeking a long term Agricultural Science and Technology substitute teacher. This position is expected to begin on or about March 1, 2024. The substitute will perform all of the responsibilities of an Agricultural Science and Technology teacher with an emphasis on horticulture. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.

Ledyard High School is seeking a long term Agricultural Science and Technology substitute teacher. This position is expected to begin on or about March 1, 2024. The substitute will perform all of the responsibilities of an Agricultural Science and Technology teacher with an emphasis on horticulture. The successful candidate will work under the general supervision of the School Administrator to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop students' skills and competence in agricultural science
- Supervise four greenhouses
- Provide instruction in soils, horticulture, floral design, and animal science
- Promote critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas
- Design and deliver instruction paired with assessments that align to national standards and Ledyard Public Schools curriculum
- Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning through individualized and small group instruction
- Instruct students in the proper use and care of agriscience equipment and plant and animal life
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
- Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies
Additional Duties
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent
Qualifications:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
- Masters Degree preferred
- CT certification 040 or 041 preferred
Pay:
- The daily rate for substitute teachers is $100. Please note for long term substitute positions (40 days): The daily rate for long term substitute teachers with certification is $269.78 beyond the 40th consecutive day worked in the same assignment.
