They are responsible for determining the optimal carrier to use by balancing price, service and availability to meet our customer requirements. They are also responsible for ensuring available information on shipments at all stages of transit for internal and external customers.
REGULAR DUTIES
- Assignment of loads to carriers utilizing a web-based Transportation Management System
- Appoint pickup times
- Coordinators must meet customer needs and are responsible for supporting Customer
- Service requests, and they often need quick responses in a dynamic fast-paced office Environment
- Ensure all loads are picked up and delivered on time
- Prepare daily reports on shipment activity including volumes and shipment failures
- Negotiate spot rates and prepare rate confirmations as needed
- Perform daily audits on freight rates
- Work closely in cross functional teams with customer support and loading as a representative for the Logistics department
- Process Carrier Claims and follow up on collections
- Other duties, as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- PC literate to include Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in dispatching, call center or customer service
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Professional email and phone etiquette
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to function in a team environment – problem solving is done through in a
- Collaborative manner with input from Customer Service and Logistics to reach
- Conclusions; also seeking further direction from management
- Must be focused with strong attention to detail, a sense of urgency and accuracy
- Must be self-motivated, display accountability and work with minimal supervision
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Proficient oral and written skills
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must have manual dexterity needed to type on a computer keyboard.
- Continual hand/wrist motion is required to operate computers and office machinery
- Must be able to read papers and reports without assistance
- The ability to bend, stoop, and twist is required for filing
- Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Occasional travel by plane and/or automobile may be required to perform some tasks such as meeting with carriers or plant personnel
