JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Medical Billing Specialist
Reports To: Billing Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: We are looking for a Medical Biller to join our fast growing administrative team to process patient billing information. A Medical Biller's responsibilities include tasks that requite data analysis and sound judgement to help our patients throughout the billing process. In addition, the best candidate for this position will be experienced with billing software and medical insurance policies.
Basic Responsibilities include the following:
- Perform posting charges and completion of claims to payers in a timely fashion
- Submit billing data to insurance providers
- Work claims and claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided.
- Prepare bills and invoices for dental services and treatment received.
- Establishes payment arrangements on current and delinquent patient accounts.
- Contacts and follows up with individuals to reconcile accounts.
- Gathers patient insurance and financial information to generate payment for health center.
- Updates and obtains dental authorizations for payment from insurers.
- Gathers information needed to secure payment from third party insurances.
- Update Medicare and Medicaid cost and bad-debt reports, billing, collections and related information.
- Monitors debts and unresolved patient accounts.
- Collect payment on outstanding accounts.
- Follows all work processes, procedures, while maintaining compliance to the rules and regulations set forth by the company.
- Always strive to deliver high-quality results in accordance with standards.
- Protects and keeps all patient and hospital information confidential.
- Accepts ownership for all tasks and responsibilities while improving the company’s reputation.
Qualifications
1. Prior management experience or three years’ experience in dental office
2. Leadership qualities
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player
4. Tactfulness
5. Demonstrate willingness to adapt to change
6. Pleasant phone manner and voice
7. Must be a self-starter and dependable
8. Able to prioritize workload while remaining flexible
9. Confident positive manner and appearance
10. Customer service experience
11. High school diploma or equivalent
12. Microsoft Word, Excel,10-key, telephone and computer experience
13. Above average critical thinking, communication and analytical skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities
1. Able to speak/write English (Spanish if needed, but not mandatory) clearly
2. Good verbal and written communication skills
3. Correct grammar, spelling skills, and legible writing
4. Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line phone system.
5. Able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
6. Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
