Job Description
- Prepare cost estimates for plumbing and piping work including labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs.
- Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work.
- Send out requests and collect pricing from material and equipment suppliers.
- Request subcontractor quotes for competitive pricing on all estimates.
- Work with project managers to understand requested breakouts or special requirements for the bid. Then review and clarify your estimate.
- Make recommendations beyond the itemized takeoff to the project managers.
- Execute conceptual estimating in support of budget proposals.
- Help develop value engineering options with recommendations based on cost, engineering, equality, and availability of materials.
- Assist in tracking estimates and project results for future budget pricing.
- Attend job walks as needed.
- 3 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in using estimating software, Trimble and similar software systems.
- Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems and read blueprints.
- Ability to prepare time, material, equipment, and labor estimates.
- Strong organizational skills and drive.
- Written communication skills between project managers, field, and other colleagues.
