ABOUT THE ROLE:
The DevOps Engineering Manager leads the activities of the Senior DevOps Engineers. The DevOps Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall health and efficiency of the DevOps team. The DevOps manager oversees the governance and operational excellence across the engineering squads.
KEY OUTCOMES:
- Define processes for the DevOps program and align to best practice standards
- Handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Attract, develop, and retain a highly talented team
- Conduct a thorough evaluation of our DevOps posture, identify gaps, and set priorities to create and execute scalable solutions
- Plan for and manage operational resilience for network and application while minimizing the effect on the business
- Develop and extend DevOps tooling and automation efforts across all applications and accounts
- Assist Director/VP of DevOps in the design and architecture of DevOps systems and controls
- Supervise the governance of DevOps responsibilities that impact other engineering squads
- Support security compliance activities including external audits, regulatory compliance
- projects, and overall information security reviews
- Maintain operational excellence while managing platform costs
- Provide technical mentorship to your team as we balance between building sustainable, high-impact projects and shipping them quickly
- Work with your product development and platform engineering to build a roadmap based upon key business metrics.
- Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, product managers, and engineers
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years of DevOps management or engineering management
- 3 years of DevOps or Software Development experience
- 5 years of experience working with AWS architecture
- 2 years of experience running Terraform
- 5 years supporting production environments
- Strong background in GIT, bash scripting, YAML, SQL
- Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- A proactive, kind and collaborative mindset
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and rapidly develop proficiency in new skills
- Proven experience in team building, collaboration, coaching and mentoring
NICE TO HAVES:
- 2 years of software development experience in ROR
- Experience leading DevOps teams in a geographically dispersed environment
- Experience using Datadog, New Relic or other monitoring tools
