Job Summary:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely accounting is completed per applicable standards. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for performing the required monthly close journal entries in conjunction with the other accounting staff. The Assistant Controller also assists in the timely preparation of management financial reports including the three main statements: Balance Sheet(s), Income Statement(s), and Cash Flow Statement(s) and prepares and analyses related internal financial reporting.

Primary Job Duties:
- Maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and performing the monthly close processes.
- Perform financial reporting analysis as requested by the executive team.
- Contributes to the development and review of annual operating budgets and performance projections.
- Participates in ensuring all financial records and statements are in line with laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Resolve discrepancies or irregularities in records, statements, or documented transactions.
- Reviewing/assisting the accounting team with payroll submissions and preparing payroll journal entries
- Responds to ad-hoc information requests by creating reports which share insights with people outside the accounting group, including non-financial managers, the executive team, and the board of directors.
- Assists the CFO and others on the accounting team with other administrative tasks as assigned.
- Meets processing and reporting deadlines.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, economics, or finance is required
- CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- 5 years of accounting experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good problem-solving and time management skills.
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Proficiency in Microsoft office products
- Knowledge of accounting systems, including Microsoft Dynamics is strongly preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional exposure to outdoor elements including varying seasonal outdoor temperatures, wind, and precipitation to participate in field observations related to job duties.
- Ability to traverse potentially muddy and uneven ground conditions related to growing operation. Occasional use of ladders or stairs
