Position Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Technician provides cost-effective maintenance on company and customer-owned medical equipment to assure it is functioning properly and meets customers’ needs. They also perform operational verification, preventive maintenance, and corrective repair service.
Primary Objectives and Responsibilities
- Provides cost-effective equipment inspection, maintenance, calibration, and repair service on a variety of medical devices
- Completes all paperwork and computer data entry accurately and promptly to ensure complete documentation for billing and required regulatory compliance.
- Communicates with clinical staff on the topics of equipment features, functionality, etc.
- Delivers a quality service, performs to quality standards, and meets both customer and company metrics.
- Maintains adequate and accurate inventory.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and complies with health and safety protocols.
- Ships and receive medical equipment and supplies.
- Assists in patient handling equipment training as needed.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations in all matters.
- Protects all company assets.
Qualifications
- Associates degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or biomedical equipment technology. Alternative qualifications include: Equivalent military training or Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET)
- Must hold a current, valid, and unrestricted driver’s license. Must have a safe driving record based on Agiliti policies.
- Basic computer skills; understanding of computer networks and equipment interfacing.
- Willing to travel periodically to support business needs.
- Able to lift and/or push up to 75 pounds.
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Prioritizes customer service; willing to go above and beyond to ensure prompt and courteous service.
- Operates with a proactive approach towards safety and cleanliness in compliance with all company policies and regulations.
- Demonstrates competency to perform operational verification procedures, preventive maintenance, and repair service on various equipment.
- Knows industry regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
- Understands Business Management to assist with contract management and account margin maintenance.
- Familiar with the setup and application of test equipment (electrical safety analyzer, digital multi-meter, patient simulator, etc.).
- Reads, evaluates, and interprets technical literature, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic and mechanical technology, as well as familiarity with reading circuit diagrams and mechanical schematics.
- Adapts to an everchanging work environment.
- Maintains adequate and accurate inventory.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with a variety of audiences and displays consistent conflict resolution skills.
- Exemplifies teamwork and shows respect for others.
- Works effectively with limited supervision.
- Stays organized; prioritizes to meet deadlines.
