POSITION SUMMARY: The Welder is responsible for reading assembly prints, weld maps and welding process documents to weld assemblies and sub-assemblies to specifications in accordance with AGM's quality control standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess some mechanical aptitude, be capable of moving large amounts of steel stock and able to use hands to work with large and small parts. Some experience with hand and machine shop tools and the ability to read numbers and instructions from assembly prints is also desired.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or G.E.D. is required. Welding courses and/or Machine Shop courses and/or work experience are preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to speak, read and write English. Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as material lists, procedure prints, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions. Must have ability to write routine job reports and complete required paperwork. Must be able to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions or decimals and compute rate.
REASONING ABILITY: Must have ability to apply common sense understanding to follow instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects and reach with hands and arms, lift, carry and work with steel stock; assemble large and small subassemblies. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is also required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 85 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working around moving mechanical parts or machines. In addition, the employee is exposed to, and may come in direct contact with, potentially hazardous chemicals or materials. Therefore, the employee must follow proper safety procedures. This position also requires an employee to learn how to safely operate and maintain welding equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES: Must be fork lift certified.
