Trader - USC

The US Commodities LLC Merchandiser position has the responsibility for buying and selling grain, feed ingredients, or food ingredients. The merchandiser will work within a group that serves a specific market within the agriculture industry. Merchandisers strive to have the right product, in the right place, at the right time, at the right quantity and the right price for the customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze current market trends to anticipate future product needs
• Devise a merchandising plan to meet customer needs
• Decide how much product to buy, how to ship and what is an acceptable price
• Negotiate shipping rates with rail, freight, overseas containers or barge
• Ensure product quality and characteristics meet customer needs
• Analyze global, domestic, industry and company information
• Correlate analysis into commodity and transportation trading and positioning opportunities
• Search out new customers and markets for specific ingredients within the assigned group
• Find new lanes for shipping, cultivating relationships with transportation companies
• Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with growers and product accounts
• Handle logistics, accounting and other customer issues

Qualifications

• Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organization and relationship-building and personal sales skills
• 3-5 years Merchandising or Trading experience within the Ag Sector
• Undergraduate degree
• Ability to work independently within a team setting
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects at a time

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical hours of work are Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm and may fluctuate with business needs, at the direction of or with managerial approval.
