POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead projects and activities in support of breeding, focusing on inbred line maintenance and curation and counter-season nurseries coordination.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Increase and maintain inventories of coded inbred lines according to defined seed quantity and quality standards.
• Organize shipments of inbred seeds to all stakeholders as needed, ensuring accurate handoffs.
• Lead counter-season demand forecasting and communicate needs to providers.
• Enforce counter-season allocations and deadlines as defined by the stakeholders.
• Drive accurate and on-time execution of all field activities with counter-season nursery providers, providing timely and regular updates to all stakeholders.
• Manage direct report(s) and budgets or allocated resources for the program to attain the objectives.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, customer service and professionalism.
• Visit all counter-season sites at least once per year and travel as needed, including but not limited to the various summer nurseries and company and parent-company meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Ph. D. in plant breeding or a related field, with two (2) or more years of relevant experience, or MS in plant breeding or a related field, with seven (7) or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Spotfire).

• Highly self-motivated, detail-oriented, and innovative.
• Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Ability to work in cross-functional teams and collaborate with others.
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

• Strong understanding of database systems and management of large data sets.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to travel up to 20%, some overnight travel required.
• Ability to work extended hours outdoors during the entire growing season.
• Must have valid driver’s license and meet MVR Requirements.
