Software Developer

POSITION PURPOSE:

This is not a remote position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications to support the cattle processing and distribution system.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and lead areas of system improvement.
• Conduct Progress 4GL and OpenEdge Advanced Business Language (ABL) development in addition to utilizing C# and the .NET framework to implement efficient and scalable software solutions.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure smooth operation of the system.
• Implement best practices for software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to continuously improve our software products.
• Provide technical support and assistance to end-users as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Proficiency in C# and the .NET framework.
• Strong understanding of software development principles and methodologies.
• Familiarity with continuous delivery DevOps technical practices.
• Leadership experience leading a team of developers.
• Willingness to learn and develop using Progress and Open Edge technologies.
• Experience with database systems such as SQL Server.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment independently and effectively.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in software development, with at least 7 years of experience.
• Experience with C# and the .NET framework is highly desirable.
• Experience with Progress and Open Edge development is a plus but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to work on complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
