Under general direction, the Attorney III works closely with the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and Regional Director on a variety of issues, including: formulating policies and procedures, administrative matters, mentoring less experienced attorneys, training regional office staff, reviewing drafts of case-related documents, complex case work and other matters as needed.

Special Requirements

The position requires fluency in the Spanish language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.

The position requires a BAR License.

The position requires five years of legal experience in the practice of law.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Understanding of and/or experience with issues impacting low-wage immigrant workers such as farmworkers, and the agricultural community
  • Legal research, writing, analysis and advocacy skills
  • Labor law experience
  • Familiarity with the Agricultural Labor Relations Act
  • Hearing and/or trial experience
  • Litigation experience
  • Experience working with outside counsel
  • Knowledge of rules of evidence, administrative hearings and state and federal civil procedure
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with government policies and procedures
  • Experience mentoring and reviewing work of less experienced attorneys
  • Experience advising and supporting senior management regarding departmental (or firm-wide) policies, procedures, or legal matters
