General Purpose:
The Safety Manager is responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs/policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. The Safety Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is exempt.

Develops and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Conducts regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks.

Investigates accidents and incidents to determine their root cause and implements corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Provides safety training to employees on topics such as emergency procedures, hazard recognition, and safe work practices.

Maintains safety records and reports for regulatory compliance and internal monitoring.

Collaborates with management and employees to promote a safety culture and continuous improvement in safety performance.

Monitors changes in safety regulations and best practices and implements necessary changes to the safety program.

Conducts risk assessments and develops risk mitigation strategies.

Coordinates with external safety professionals, such as OSHA inspectors or safety consultants, as needed.

Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.
Supervisory Duties:

Must be able to travel within the trade region more than 50% of the workweek with occasional overnight stays.
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
Experience:

Five years of related experience preferred.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.

Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.
- Forklift license preferred or ability to obtain one.

Moderate physical work involves lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 25 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
