POSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to plan, organize, develop and assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current local, state and federal standards, guidelines and regulations, and as directed by the Administrator to assure that the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Assist with completing regular rounds of the facility to check all maintenance zones to ensure the quality control and safety, health and welfare of patients, employees, families, visitors in the facility, and correct or report equipment failure or damage to the Administrator immediately
- Assist with checking air conditioning and heating units on roof and in patients’ rooms, office and other rooms in the facility
- Assist with checking pump station and breaker panels, washers and dryers in laundry
- Assist with making daily repairs as needed
- Assist with checking water and boiler temperature, dietary cooking equipment, cooling equipment, public address system, fire extinguishers and alarms, fire doors, and electrical outlets
- Interpret the Department’s policies and procedures to employees, patients, visitors, and government agencies
- Assist in the completion of forms, reports, evaluations and studies to assure control of equipment and supplies
- Assist with the Inspection of storage rooms, work rooms, utility and janitorial closets for up-keep, supply control and safety
- Assist in identifying, evaluating and classifying routine and job-related maintenance functions to ensure that universal precautions are carried out with the facility
- Recognize and respond to maintenance emergencies and document observations, interventions and outcomes
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of records, conditions, and other information relating to patients, employees and facility
- Follow the established universal precautions and isolation procedures
- Encourage an atmosphere of optimism, warmth and interest in patients’ personal and health care needs
Required Skills:

Required Work Experience:
- One (1) year experience in a maintenance position preferred
Licensing/Certification/Education Requirements:
- Technical courses in maintenance field, to include electrical, mechanical, general construction preferred
Other Requirements:
- Position may require unscheduled overtime, week-end work
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours
