About The Opportunity.

Reporting to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager, this role is accountable for directing and managing pulp mill maintenance activities at the Mosinee Mill in a manner that meets or exceeds department and facility goals for safety, environment, Food Safety, EBITDA, quality, productivity, human development, and cost. In addition, this position is responsible for driving a culture change with a focus on Reliability Centered Maintenance. A successful Maintenance Manager partners with department team members to continuously improve customer service to production, engineering, quality, and other departments. He or she will direct and lead the pulp mill mechanical and electrical maintenance team to grow them both professionally and for the good of the business.

Essential Functions and Primary Responsibilities:

• Must follow Ahlstrom’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
• Advocate and champion for implementation of Maintenance best practices, including Reliability Centered Maintenance.
• The safety of the Maintenance Team and support supervisors
• Assure that Mosinee Mill meets or exceeds Maintenance/Production goals
• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department
• Facilitate Pulp Mill maintenance flow to work concepts across all departments
• Assure that outside contracting is used only when internal resources are not capable or available to perform the work as defined by the situation
• Assure that Pulp Mill Supervisors are capable and properly aligned with not only Maintenance goals but with those of the mill.
• Assure consistent application of department policies and standards across all mill areas
• Accountable for the Pulp Mill maintenance budget
• Assure root cause analysis program is implemented and follow-up actions completed
• Assure uniformity in the application of mill rules and policies with corrective actions where necessary
• Participate in and leads crew meeting discussions where appropriate
• Focus on respect for people and continuous improvement
• Weekend Duty Coverage with growth for overall Mill coverage responsibility.
• All other assignments assigned by management.
  
  

Minimum Occupational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 10 years of mechanical maintenance, engineering, construction, reliability or production experience – preferably in pulp and paper or similar heavy industry
• Minimum 8 years of industrial experience working in a mechanical leadership role
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics
• Demonstrated ability to establish and manage to budget
• Continuous improvement experience, a definite plus
• Visionary with the ability to measure as a base line maintenance effectiveness and implement improvement plans, and drive culture change
• Proven leadership experience and track record of obtaining results
• Union experience is a plus
• Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal
• Detail oriented, with good follow through skills
