Overview
The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting the Activities Coordinator in providing social, physical, cognitive programs for all residents through the use of recreational services
Responsibilities
1
Implement individualized activity plans compatible with each resident's medical, psychological, emotional, social needs and capabilities, as directed and supervised by the Activity Coordinator.

Transport residents to and from designated areas for activity programs.
3
Work assigned on weekends and/or evenings, as well as day shifts.
4
Document attendance when leading or assisting in activity programs.
5
One-to-one interactions with residents, including residents with low activity levels to provide sensory and mental stimulation.
6
Prepare scheduled activities; gather supplies and materials.
7
Monitor activity area prior to each group activity for cleanliness and appropriate set-up.
8
Be available for special assignments/projects as designated by the Activity Coordinator.
9
Continue to further knowledge helpful to position by taking advantage of additional education, special classes, in-service training and pertinent reading material.
10
Assists in the development and implementation of the departmental yearly Vincentian Values Program.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Course work in occupational, physical, art, music or dance therapy preferred
- Certification in a 36 hour activity course or enrollment in such a course preferred
- 1 year experience working with long term residents preferred
- Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
- Ability to lead group activities and interact effectively on a one-to-one basis.
- Ability to work in a team environment
