The Clinical Quality Coordinator will be responsible for the development of the AHMC Anaheim Regional Medical Center (ARMC) capabilities in medical informatics (the production and analysis of healthcare information from multiple data sources). The focus of the Clinical Quality Coordinator will be on the further refinement, coordination, analysis and display of organization-wide performance improvement data for learning and improvement.
This position is responsible for the clinical data analysis, formatting, presentation and tracking of internal and external benchmarking clinical quality and performance improvement (PI) data, including but not limited to, the quality/core measures reported to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and The Joint Commission (TJC).. He/she insures the security of confidential and sensitive information. He/she is performs clinical data abstraction as assigned. In collaboration with the Director of Quality Services, the Clinical Quality Coordinator assists in the development and coordination of standardized clinical outcome reporting, with a focus on using data for learning and improvement. The Clinical Quality Coordinator provides technical consultation to other members of the Quality Services Department, and to other departments involved in performance improvement activities and reporting. He/she designs data graphic displays that facilitate the review, analysis and understanding of clinical quality data using a performance improvement approach. Acts as the PIPS coordinator
Associate Degree. BA, BSN, or BS in healthcare related field, health informatics, computer science preferred.
RN, LVN or clinical certification/license required.
CPHQ certification preferred.
Proficient in medical record review and data abstraction.
Minimum of 2 years in quality/performance improvement experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Advanced level proficiency in MS Office Software.
Understands key quality and performance improvement terminology, tools and applications, i.e., flow charts, pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, histograms, control and run charts with mean and median, standard deviations, and PDSA methodology.
Performs high level data manipulation, analysis and reporting for a variety of short and long-term performance improvement activities.
Knowledge of current CMS/TJC regulations and State and National performance improvement initiatives.
Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrates initiative to acquire additional areas of expertise.
Ability to problem solve, analyze situations, think critically
Ability to prioritize and address multiple tasks that frequently have short timelines.
Ability to work with Information Systems to maintain current and accurate databases and files.
