About this role In this role, you will join our team reporting to the Director of Data & Analytics. Your primary focus will be owning the front-end analytics and data visualization function of the team. This role promises a high degree of ownership, responsibility, and creative freedom to maintain and advance AHTG’s analytics technology and customer product offerings. We’re seeking candidates who are excited to deliver rich, visual insights to customers using Power BI. Ideal candidates have a track record of diving deep into the Power BI platform and delivering analytics solutions that utilize the Power BI API, optimize DAX and M for performance, and that use Power BI embedded capacities for hosting. Bringing enthusiasm for Power BI as a career path with several years of advanced experience dedicated to the Power BI platform are essential to qualify for this senior role. Over the past 3 years, the AHTG Data & Analytics team has designed and built a cloud data warehouse using Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt-core, Azure and Power BI for embedded analytics in our SaaS products. The team has also delivered a data-as-a-service (DaaS) product to facilitate data integration and new revenue streams. The person hired for this role will support and enhance AHTG’s existing Power BI investment and drive future investments in related product and analytics software efforts. Our Tech Stack Azure SQL, Fivetran, dbt-core, Snowflake, Power BI, Power BI Embedded Capacity, pbi-tools, Azure, Azure DevOps (Agile), Git, PowerShell, C# What You’ll Do Design intuitive and pleasing analytics user experiences based on proven visual design patterns that enable users to answer their most important questions. Build embedded and stand-alone Power BI analytics that deliver cohesive insights into operational performance to SaaS customers and internal stakeholders. Design efficient Power BI data models that utilize Snowflake dimensional data. Troubleshoot Power BI, DAX, M issues to resolve errors and optimize performance using tools such as DAX Studio. Conduct detailed data analyses in SQL, dbt-core, and Power BI to understand data and resolve issues. Maintain and extend Azure Functions that support Power BI embedded capacity scale and refresh operations using C# and the Power BI API. Manage Power BI assets as code using Git and the pbi-tools open-source project. Create analytics mockups and facilitate requirements gathering discussions with stakeholders to define product roadmaps. Collaborate with data & analytics engineers, product owners, software engineers, sales, and other business stakeholders to improve the analytics capabilities embedded in AHTG SaaS products and internal company reporting. Influence the data product roadmap and co-create new analytics data products for the healthcare staffing market. Improve analytics tooling and infrastructure performance through optimization and monitoring. Support and improve team DevOps and CI/CD processes related to Power BI. Plan and work with the data team and other teams in 2-week sprints, quarterly cross-team PI planning events utilizing agile values, principles, and practices. Education Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Experience 8 years of related experience. Additional Must Haves 4 years designing and building enterprise-grade Power BI reports and dashboards. Previous experience having key responsibilities for report delivery lifecycle. Software engineering habits and personal practices that exhibit analytical thinking, problem solving, attention to detail, curiosity, creativity, an intrinsic motivation, and a readiness to ask questions and share opinions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain, discuss and question abstract ideas with a variety of audiences. Hands-on experience designing pleasing and efficient BI user experiences. Experience developing enterprise-grade analytics with Power BI, DAX, M. Experienced technical troubleshooting skills – particularly in Power BI and Vertipaq tuning. Excellent SQL and data analysis skills. Experience modeling and working with relational and dimensional data models. Experience building software products in a collaborative Agile and DevOps-oriented team. Source code management with Git. Your informed opinions and creative ideas to help the team and find the best solutions. A passion to get things done efficiently and with technical excellence. Nice to Haves Hands-on experience developing software with C# or other object-oriented programming languages. Hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud-based solutions in Azure utilizing Azure Functions (C#), Storage Accounts (blob), Event Grid, Azure Table Storage, etc. 1 years hands-on experience building data transformations with dbt (Core or Cloud). Power BI DevOps development approach using pbi-tools. A degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred. Related experience in other fields will be considered.
