Primary Functions:

To provide leadership, define the organization’s needs, and administer the operation of AIN to achieve the vision, mission, purposes, and goals of the organization.  Determine the programs and positions needed.  Provide fundraising and financial oversight. Conduct planning, implement plans, and facilitate the development of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  Strategic Leadership:

  • Provides leadership of the organization. Works with board, staff, and supporters to articulate the vision, purposes, mission, values, ethics, philosophy, and goals of AIN, and ensures that AIN operations align with them.
  • Engages the board, staff, and other stakeholders in defining and executing the strategic vision.

 

Program Management:

  • Works with key program staff leadership to define the needs of the organization, establish its programming and staffing.
  • Performs oversight of the administrative management of the operation of the organization’s programs.
  • Ensures the organization delivers high-quality, caring services to meet the diverse needs of clients and communities.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement and best practices.
  • Advises client management when needed, gives clinical oversight or supervision as needed.

 Financial and Resource Management:

  • Leads in identifying and securing diverse funding sources to support the organization's sustainability.
  • Maintains primary role in development and fundraising activities to achieve funding levels for the organization.
  • Develops and manages the organization's annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Monitors financial performance and reports to board, funders, and others.
  • Responsible to ensure procurement of grants and related processes whether directly or through assigned staff.
  • Works with financial team to formulate program operating budgets, agency operating budget, and budget projections.
  • Responsible for management of organization’s resources within budget guidelines; align expenses and income to ensure financial accountability.
  • Works with the financial team, auditors, monitors, and board in fiscal oversight of the organization.
  • Provides oversight of CFO, and ensures appropriate bookkeeping and accounting practices.

 

                    Team Leadership:

  • Recruits, develops, and leads a high-performing team.
  • Fosters a collaborative and inclusive work environment that values diversity and equity.
  • Provides mentorship and support for professional development.
  • Directly supervises COO, CFO other officers and directors, creates teams where possible.
  • Responsible for the human resources of the organization; defines positions, salaries, and supervision whether directly or through assigned staff.
  • Responsible for co-employment arrangement with Insperity PEO, their contract, and maintains HR relationship with Insperity PEO.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervision, and terminations of staff whether directly as supervisor or through assigned managers or supervisors.
  • Conducts staff meetings, in-services, and trainings as needed; participates in staff meetings, in-services, and training as needed; participates in committees as needed.

 

Advocacy and Community Engagement:

  • Advocates for HIV awareness, prevention, and care at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Build strategic partnerships with government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations to advance the organization's mission.
  • Represents the organization in relevant forums and public events.
  • Responsible for community relations and donor support whether directly or through assigned staff.

 

Governance and Board Relations:

  • Collaborate with the board of directors to ensure sound governance practices, transparency, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Keep the board informed on key organizational matters and provide regular updates on performance.
  • Advises board, provides information, reporting, and support to board to facilitate appropriate oversight.

 

Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Establish and maintain systems for measuring and reporting on program outcomes and impact.
  • Produce regular reports for the board and funders, demonstrating the organization's effectiveness and progress toward its goals.
  • Responsible for creating and implementing policies and procedures either directly or through assigned staff.
  • Ensures creation and implementation of quality management plan, quality activities, standards, practices, program evaluation, and contractual alignment either directly or through assigned staff, provides guidance and oversight.

 

 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s Degree in related field preferred with related background and work experience required.
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior management role within the nonprofit or healthcare sector.
  • Possess skills related to leadership and management; strong people skills.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget development and fundraising experience.
  • Culturally knowledgeable and sensitive; able to work with diverse staff and clientele. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in both internal and external practices.
  • Knowledgeable of healthcare, HIV, and other health concerns; psychosocial effects; and systems of care.  Understanding of advocacy and policy issues related to HIV.
  • Systems thinker with ability to apply systems approach to management of programs and staff.
  • Professional; patient; strong interpersonal skills; behaves in ethical manner; honest; person of integrity.
  • Competent; mature attitudes; maintain appropriate boundaries and model appropriate behaviors to staff.
  • Able to communicate at level appropriate to position; strong writing and speaking skills.
