The primary purpose of this position is to determine the legally applicable and most economical rates and routes for shipment of freight in accordance with published tariffs.
Duties
Plans and carries out shipping arrangements.
Determines freight classification for a variety of unusual and standard items, some of which have no recorded or published classifications.
Conducts pre and post audits and maintains shipping documentation.
Provides technical guidance and advice on problems in all phases of outbound / inbound shipping.
Inspects hazardous materials, explosives, ammunition, special and general cargo documentation and packaging in accordance with applicable DoD, Air Force (AF), Air Mobility Command (AMF) and civilian directives.
Drives one or more types of vehicles, equipment such as pickup, panel, and material Handling Equipment (MHE), which typically have a gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or less.
