An Applications Engineer with Air Hydro Power researches, collects, and reports information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment. Aids in the design and development of electrical systems, and redesign of existing electrical systems to fulfill the needs of customers. Responsibilities also include providing equipment functionality and capability reports to our sales force and acting as technical liaison to our sales team.
Program PLC, HMI, VFD, Servo, Vision, Robots, Safety, and other systems.
Familiarize with UL508A standards and become Manufacturer Technical Representative in UL508A.
Draw 2-D schematics for Electrical systems using AutoCAD.
Answer general electrical-related technical support calls from customers and inside/outside sales teams.
Provide start-up assistance and on-site technical assistance to customers and salesmen.
Cross-reference competitive products to those of represented manufacturers.
Create Bill of Materials for projects in Excel and price jobs for customer quotations through P21.
Enter quotes, orders, and production orders into P21 to process through the shop.
Source, price, and purchase products for projects while working with new and existing vendors.
Work with shop foreman and assemblers as needed to complete projects to customer's specifications.
Log and maintain files and data on projects and catalog library in engineering and company server.
Design 80/20 assemblies using AutoQuoterX (AutoCAD).
Conduct on-site product training for customers.
Requirements
The following requirements are indicative of the necessary knowledge, expertise, and/or capabilities. Reasonable adjustments may be made to enable persons with disabilities to effectively execute the core responsibilities.
Candidates must be highly skilled in the troubleshooting and design of automation with PLC & HMI control systems involving ladder logic, structured text, function block programming, and various types of PLC & PC networking.
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer literacy and technical background, including knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor Design software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
A high mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning skills. An interest in working with numbers and data.
An unrestricted Kentucky driver's license.
Ability to travel to vendor meetings and training as needed.
