This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC position description D1367000, within the 108th MXS of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.
Its primary purpose is to perform on- and/or off-equipment maintenance on assigned aircraft pneudraulic systems, components and related aerospace ground equipment.
Qualifications:
General Experience:
Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.
Specialized Experience:
At least 18 months of experience or training which provided a knowledge of the following:
Basic electrical and mechanical principles
Fabricating fuel, oil and vacuum hose lines
Servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts
Diagnosing trouble and determining remedies
Repairing, rebuilding and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment
Demonstrating the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications and publications
Responsibilities:
As an AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC, WG-8268-10, you will:
Perform maintenance and operation and function checks on assigned pneudraulic systems
Troubleshoot, remove, inspect, install, repair, modify, rebuild, and/or test pneudraulic systems and components for aircraft pneudraulic systems, associated ground support equipment, and/or related test equipment
Accomplish periodic and special inspections on hydraulic components
Inspect all components and subsystems for operation, internal, and external leakage and servicing
Operate portable test stands for checkout of pneudraulic system
Remove, install, and/or repair Pneudraulic components from aircraft and associated aerospace ground equipment
Remove, disassemble, clean, repair, assemble components, and test completed unit.
Operate test equipment for all hydraulic components
Inspect for cracks, scratches, nicks, and holes on seals, gaskets, packings, and hoses
Modify systems and their components
Rig, adjust, and align hydraulic components to ensure maximum operating efficiency
Polish cylinders and pistons to ensure proper fit
Investigate pneudraulic failures to determine causes and accomplish corrective maintenance
Perform installation, modification, and/or repair of aircraft pneudraulic systems
Determine proper maintenance and repair procedures and minimum requirements pertaining to parts, clearance and tolerances, and performance characteristics of pneudraulic systems and related aerospace ground equipment
