Reimagine What's Possible Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for a Procurement Specialist within the Rotoflow Business at our office in our Houston location.

Nature and Scope This position develops and implements procurement strategies to support and ensure alignment with manufacturing strategy and goals, while simultaneously challenging commercial and operating practices, and business processes with a focus on driving efficient solutions. Strong planning, project and time management, cost control, sourcing, communication, and negotiating skills are required.
You will also be responsible for handling all aspects of order execution pre-award, including reviewing of drawings, identification of capable suppliers, live interaction with suppliers for technical questions and clarifications, management of RFQ lifecycle and recommendation for award.
You will convert requisitions to purchase orders and maintain responsibility for the order management lifecycle until the order has been fulfilled. You will proactively assess order statuses and effectively update orders, communicate, and mitigate any risks or changes to schedule.
Working in Air Products' SAP system and OpenText is also a key requirement. You will place orders, confirm orders, expedite orders when necessary, and resolve discrepancies.
Travel will be required. Overall travel is encouraged to be 25% or less. Principal accountabilities

- Full end to end management of RFQ lifecycle Contribute to procurement and sourcing strategies that conforms to all policies and procedures
- Proactively expedite orders, parts, materials, equipment, and critical documents to assure timely delivery achieving project commitments for Rotoflow and its customers
- Support supply chain development and optimization, as well as relationship management and performance measurement In-depth knowledge of all Aftermarket parts and services
- Review and understand technical drawings to determine fit in supply chain, and address any questions with Suppliers
- Lead negotiations with Suppliers to acquire globally competitive price, delivery, and contract terms, while proactively accounting for potential supply chain risk
- Maintain ERP data integrity and communicate exceptions which may impact the production schedule
- Achieve regular contact with suppliers to acquire progress status updates, production schedules and evidence of meeting achievements is required
- Provide timely updates to project teams and inform of any possible delivery issue
Critical Competencies
- Familiarity with the turbomachinery/rotating machinery industry, specifically in the aftermarket space for spare parts and repairs
- Review request for assigned commodities/materials, parts, and/ or services and verifies specifications
- Sources components or services and ensures timely preparations and communication of RFQ (Request for Quotes) and Purchase Order placement
- Experience with commodities/services such as machined parts (shrouds, plates, rings, seals, vanes, etc.), lube oil systems, bearings, gearboxes, foils, impellers, tooling, shafts/rotos, actuators (and assembly parts), couplings, instrumentation, castings/patterns, forgings, fabricated parts, Class C items, etc. is strongly desired
- Strong experience in issuance and leading execution of requisitions/purchase orders for material, equipment, and services in SAP
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiating skills, both commercial and legal
- Facilitate inspections, substitutions, and standardization by arranging and participating in conferences calls between suppliers and company personnel
- Strong leadership, influencing, communication, and facilitative skills
- Works with Engineering and Design team to understand technical requirements needed for procured parts and works with suppliers to ensure these requirements are met
- Works with Operations team in reviewing forecast and operation plans to ensure purchase of goods and services are planned to meet demand
- Self-disciplined and self-motivated with a confirmed ability to work optimally with minimal direction
- Strong organizational and time management leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in discrete manufacturing, machining, turbo/rotating machinery, and aftermarket repairs and spare parts is desired
- Education in technical, commercial, or business field
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Procurement, Technical, Engineering, Commercial or Project environment
- Accreditation from Supply Chain industry organization (i.e., CPIM, CPSM)
- SAP experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstration of significant volumes of orders and order management
- Knowledge of procurement methods and techniques
