Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases, has an immediate opening for an EPC Digital Operations Manager. This position can be located at our global HQ in Allentown, Pennsylvania, at our Houston, Texas office, or US remote.
As part of Digital Enterprise Systems, we deliver the applications and system integrations required to enable Air Products’ end to end business processes globally. The Engineering Applications team is responsible for applications specifically supporting our EPC business processes. The group partners closely with the Global Engineering, Manufacturing, Technology, and Equipment (GEMTE) organization to manage the associated portfolio and drive end to end EPC process enablement and optimization.
The EPC Digital Operations Manager will be responsible for two critical functions: 1) Own and drive operational processes that will improve engineering portfolio’s efficiency. 2) Provide leadership and direction to the team to drive the realization of EPC systems capability roadmaps.

The EPC Digital Operations Manager will be responsible for two critical functions: 1) Own and drive operational processes that will improve engineering portfolio’s efficiency. 2) Provide leadership and direction to the team to drive the realization of EPC systems capability roadmaps.
Principal Accountabilities
- Drive operational process discipline consistently across all applications. Processes include, but are not limited to, incident management, change management, release management, testing, etc.
- Supervise and manage a team of 5 direct reports of senior technical associates and solution analysts, as well as functional supports.
- Partner with EPC Application leads and their 50 team members to achieve EPC portfolio’s goals and objectives.
- Develop an Operation Change Management framework (OCM) that will be utilized across the engineering applications portfolio. Establish an OCM strategy that is consistent to all applications and projects.
- Monitor, develop, and improve common processes across all applications and projects. Define, oversee, and streamline the release management process within the portfolio.
- Implement and own the testing strategy, provide standards, and best practices (functional, integration, performance).
- Analyze skills/learning needs and develop training approaches and curricula to help our workforce adopt new technologies and ways of working.
- Own the drive of operating process improvement and drive change plans with alignment with application leads.
- Implement, monitor, and report standards around scope management, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), operational performances. Operate within acceptable performance measures.
- Define and maintain standard compliance to mitigate risk. Maintain and develop standard Disaster Recovery (DR) processes.
- Proactively use continual service improvement approach to identify opportunities for improvement and define reporting tools to measure the impact of improvement efforts. Create a culture of continual improvement by leveraging lesson learnt and consequent improvement actions.
- Work with EPC Global Functional Owners, Product Lines, Process Technology, and Operations to identify desired system optimizations in alignment with cross-functional work process requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to EPC solution analysts, functional owners, and solution architects to develop, maintain, and drive the realization of EPC systems capability roadmaps.
- Work with EPC application leaders, Business Relationship Directors, and technology subject matter experts to define scope, create estimates, develop budgets, and produce documentation needed for project approvals.
- Provide direction to project teams on the definition of required solutions; from option generation through solution selection to meet stated business requirements.
- Maintain technology and process experience related to changing technologies supporting the engineering industry. Keep aware of trends, best practices, and state-of-the-art information management amongst others in the process industries.
- Define, support, and enforce architectures, standards, and work practices that enable automated and integrated EPC value streams.
- Ensure EPC digital capabilities are delivered in accordance with solution definitions so that required outcomes and value are achieved.
- Define and report on measures that quantify the value delivered because of optimized/automated capabilities.
- Knowledge of key EPC systems sourcing (Technology, Hexagon, Document Management System, Subcontract Management, Construction Management, and Commissioning).
- Knowledge of the information flow between EPC business processes and systems.
- Thorough understanding of data management, integrity, digitization, and dependencies.
- Ability to thoroughly understand complex operating process issues and influence decision making at all levels of the organization without formal reporting structure authority.
- Expertise in system design, development, implementation, and user support principles.
- In depth knowledge of software development lifecycle management and tools.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Strong influencing, communication (written and verbal) and facilitative skills, including across cultures and geographies.
- Ability to bring teams together to achieve targets and goals.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, leadership, and facilitation skills.
- Experienced in functional-matrix organization.
- Ability to plan and develop automation resources.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering and/or Digital Technology
- Min. 10 years relevant professional experience
- Broad knowledge of IT system development, IT infrastructure and business processes
- Systems’ level thinking - see big picture and interconnects
- Familiarity with the agile methodologies and software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Able to influence others without direct authority
- Superb communication, leadership and teamwork skills are required, including the ability to work independently
