Supervise and coordinate production activities, maintain shop floor control methods, and analyze data to guide improvement. Communicate company policies and procedures, providing feedback to HR where problems or concerns exist.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications, direct setup and adjustments of machines, interpret specifications and blueprints, and communicate changes to Team Leaders.
- Study production schedules, schedule overtime, ensure daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance is performed, and estimate worker hour requirements for job completion.
- Communicate and administer company policies and procedures, providing feedback to HR where problems or concerns exist.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Work to improve Kanban and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Conduct performance appraisals for Team Leaders and Team Members, handle disciplinary and morale issues, and work with HR on pay issues.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials, and coordinate expedited delivery schedules with customer service as required.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate department activities, communicate takt time changes, policy deployment progress, and key information to the team.
- Participate in interviews for outside Team Member hires and interviews for promotions to Lead positions.
Required knowledge typically acquired through:
- Completion of a four-year Bachelor's degree from a college or vocational school.
- Two to ten years related experience or training; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
