What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Scientist ( 0 - 3 years ) position at AirLogics?
AirLogics, LLC is currently seeking a Field Scientist to support our growing perimeter air monitoring professional practice that operates out of our West Berlin, NJ office. As a Field Scientist, you will perform a mix of field and office duties on a fast-paced team of highly experienced professionals and subject matter experts. Field assignments will vary from 1-day deployments to those that last 3 to 6 months. You will be mentored by seasoned professionals, who will in turn look to you to be creative and share ideas.

Between field assignments, your work will involve a mix of working in a professional office setting, preparing detailed and accurate field documentation, data analysis and reporting, as well as working in our shop where all of our equipment is housed, maintained, and prepared for deployment. Key Attributes: Self-motivated to work independently - because you will frequently be out on the road on your own deploying and maintaining our equipment at times. Comfortable dealing with people in a professional manner - because we are a professional services company where people and relationships matter.
Comfortable with working with electronic instrumentation - because our business utilizes highly sophisticated air sensors, on-board computers, communications electronics, batteries, and other devices. (Note: we will train you on this equipment, but we need someone with an aptitude for working with instrumentation.) Comfortable with working with tools and equipment - because our highly sophisticated equipment requires some basic supporting structures, platforms, connections, and housings. Flexible - because schedules and plans can change. Key Responsibilities: Perform technical execution of projects under the supervision of highly experienced professionals and subject matter experts.
Set-up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot air monitoring instrumentation and systems on project sites. Perform and/or assist with oversight of various field activities Review data collected by our air monitoring systems Conduct technical analyses/calculations Write drafts of field air monitoring reports for weekly meetings Troubleshoot problems Communicate proactively, effectively, and efficiently with clients and team members on active project sites Coordinate shipment and/or delivery of units and system components for new installations to sites Plan and travel as needed locally, regionally, or nationally. Prepare and follow Site-specific health & safety plans Qualifications: 0-3 years experience. BS or BSE degree in earth, environmental, or atmospheric sciences or related field required.
Ability to independently perform and manage field tasks and activities in an office setting as well as on project sites Strong technical aptitude and field skills Ability to operate hand tools and maintenance equipment Ability to execute technical analyses proficiently with limited guidance Strong oral and written communication skills, problem solving and organizational skills.
