What are the responsibilities and job description for the Collections Specialist position at Akam Associates Inc?
Position Overview:
The Collections Specialist (Bilingual) will work closely with the Accounting team, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting Operations. The individual will be responsible for performing collections, resolving client A/R issues, reconciling sub-ledger to G/L and generating invoices.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Maintain up-to-date billing system
- Follow up, collection and allocation of payments
- Carry out billing, collection and reporting activities according to specific deadlines
- Reconciliation of accounts
- Monitoring customer account details for non-payments, delayed payments and other irregularities
- Maintain accounts receivable customer files
- Follow established procedures for processing receipts, cash etc.
- Prepare bank deposits
- Investigate and resolve customer queries
- Process adjustments
- Organizing a recovery system and initiate collection efforts
- Communicating with customers via phone, email, mail or personally
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any related field is preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years Accounts Receivable experience if required
- Experience using Yardi Voyager, Avid preferred
- Knowledge of office administration and procedures
- Knowledge of general bookkeeping procedures
- Heavy data entry experience is a plus
- Proficient with MS Office Suite programs; specifically, Outlook, Excel, Word
