Position Overview: The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the payroll process within the organization. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, maintaining payroll records, and managing payroll staff. The Payroll Manager will collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to streamline processes and resolve payroll-related issues.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Payroll Expertise: Extensive knowledge and experience in payroll processing, including calculation of wages, taxes, and deductions. Familiarity with payroll software and systems is essential.
- Compliance: Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements. Ability to stay updated on changes in legislation and ensure payroll processes align with legal standards.
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry. Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees, management, and external parties regarding payroll matters.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot payroll issues and implement effective solutions.
- Leadership: Experience managing a team of payroll professionals, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. A relevant certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of X years of experience in payroll processing and management, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, SAP, etc.) as well as Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ethical Standards: Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive payroll information.
- Team Player: Collaborative attitude with the ability to work effectively within a team and across departments.
- Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changes in payroll procedures, technology, and regulations.
- Customer Service: Customer-focused approach to address employee inquiries and concerns related to payroll matters.
