Environmental, Health and Safety Manager- Summary
Develop and maintain a safety and health management system and structure and oversees implementation of departmental safety procedures and policies. Support includes evaluation of the worksite, training in safety, accident and injury administration and OSHA related matters. Develops, plans and manages environmental permits, policies and procedures related to air water and environment in accordance with local, state and governmental rules and regulations. Shall be familiar with a wide variety of environmentally related concepts, practices and procedures and relies extensively on research and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. As EMS Management Representative, manages and maintains an ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system.
Environmental, Health and Safety Manager-Essential Functions
- Serves as a primary contact for all corporate & regulatory agency requests and inquiries
- Provided daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee/management to be a visible role model of incident prevention and safe work practices and ensure a common and effective approach
- Develops an effective communication process to make safety priorities and performance visible
- Ensures systems are in place for an effective safety program while maintaining compliance with regulatory/corporate guidelines, applicable record keeping, and reporting
- Provides on-the-floor safety coaching and recognition
- Responsible for assisting the identification of possible losses; evaluating the risk in such loss exposure
- Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies minimized and corrected
- Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements
- Maintain the site preparedness and emergency plans & procedures
- Responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its applications and help support the compliance
- Accountable for researching and writing permit applications and be compliant in completing permit reporting requirements
- Oversee and analyze all air, water, and environmental systems to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Maintain pollution control, pollution prevention, and recycling programs
- Oversee and advise employees on the proper use of safety equipment
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and/or requirements set forth in AKG North American Operations, Inc. ISO 14001:2004/2015 environmental management system or EMS
- Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training, emergency response training; and coordination of training programs for AKG
- Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property comply with AKG’s policies and safety requirements
- Coordinate with VP of Operations on facility incident preventions and safe work practices
Environmental, Health and Safety Manager-Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough working knowledge of EHS, Safety and Accident Injury Administration in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in Safety Incident Investigations and knowledge of health & safety programs
- Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training
- Project management skills to include the ability to develop and implement safety processes

Environmental, Health and Safety-Minimum Qualifications
- BS Degree preferred in related field of engineering and environmental management
- 1-5 years of previous work experience in EHS, Safety and Accident and Injury Administration (Workers Compensation) in a manufacturing environment
- Some experience as related to safety issues and governmental regulatory environmental issues in a manufacturing environment
