The Custodian performs general, routine custodial duties to include mopping, vacuuming, cleaning, sweeping, and routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies. Must perform necessary work to maintain the optimum level of cleanliness for our employees and customers. The Custodian operates under close supervision, responsible for the cleaning and general facilities upkeep of designated areas. Essential Duties: - Cleans designated areas including, but not limited to, restrooms, break rooms, public areas, offices and meeting/conference rooms. - Performs tasks including, but not limited to, dusting and polishing furniture and fixtures, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, shampooing carpets, washing windows, cleaning/waxing floors, and removing and disposing of trash. - Maintains a thorough inventory to ensure adequate supply is available. - Report’s maintenance deficiencies and items in need of repair. - Stocks and maintains supply rooms as needed. - Performs deep cleaning tasks and special projects (for example: use power tools/equipment to clean facility) as needed. - Keeps entrances/exits to facility clean. - Maintains cleanliness of vehicle parking areas. - Performs basic office maintenance; hangs signs, pictures, shelving, change light bulbs etc. - Safely operate general office and facility cleaning equipment, buffers, shop vacs, etc. - Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: - Be at least 18 years of age - Must be willing to work in inclement weather - Good communication skills - Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S. - High School graduate or GED - Possess a valid driver’s license - Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably - Able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English - Friendly and outgoing personality - Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints - Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules - Must be able to stand for extended periods of time if necessary - Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history and pre-employment drug test Background position skill ranking areas: Language Skills: - Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. - Write routine reports and correspondence. - Speak effectively one-to-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization Math skills: - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Abilities: - Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form. - Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Physical Demands: moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle a variety of equipment. Must be able to perform strenuous physical work to include walking, lifting, pulling loads, bending, kneeling, sitting and reaching overhead. The Custodian on occasion may lift or move with help up to 50 pounds, and/or more frequently lift or move 50 to 70 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Employees are regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk. Employees may be required to climb, sit, and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. Occasionally high noise levels where hearing protection is required and provided.
